Paul Rivoche has more than 45 years’ experience delivering exciting art to deadline. He enthusiastically works in a variety of styles. Based in Toronto, Canada, he creates work using a mix of digital and traditional methods. In his career he has worked in many areas of illustration including editorial illustration, children’s publishing, animation background and character design, comic book stories and covers, and graphic novels.
Paul is most well known for his body of work in animation and comics. Recently he was the lead background designer for the multi-award-winning 2023 animated feature “Robot Dreams”, a Spanish-French coproduction, adapted from the graphic novel by Sara Varon. He designed two seasons of the Netflix animated series “The Hollow”, 40 episodes of “DNAce” for Corus Entertainment, as well as doing extensive work for Warner Brothers Animation classic tv series and movies such as Batman Animated, Batman Beyond, Superman, Justice League, and 2008’s “Justice League: The New Frontier” feature.
In graphic novels Paul is noted for his bestselling 2014 Graphic Edition version of the Forgotten Man by Amity Shlaes. As an illustrator, he recently designed and illustrated a new version of George Orwell’s classic novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four”.
In comic books he co-created the classic 1980s comic book character “Mister X” and has created artwork for many of the mainstream companies, including Superman covers for DC Comics and Iron Man covers for Marvel Comics.
He has received numerous awards including a joint Emmy Award for his work on the Batman Beyond TV series, as well as being recognized by the Society of Illustrators(NYC) and the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles.
