Paul Rivoche is a versatile illustrator with more than 45 years’ experience delivering exciting art to deadline. Based in Toronto, Canada, he is enthusiastic about creating work in a variety of styles using a mix of digital and traditional methods. He’s worked in many areas of illustration including editorial illustration, children’s publishing, animation background and character design, comic book stories and covers, and graphic novels.
Paul is most well known for his body of work in animation and comics. Recently he was the lead background designer for the multi-award-winning and Oscar-nominated 2023 animated feature “Robot Dreams”, an independent Spanish-French coproduction. Before that he did extensive design work for Warner Brothers Animation classic tv series and movies such as Batman Animated, Batman Beyond, Superman, Justice League, and 2008’s “Justice League: The New Frontier” feature film. He also designed two seasons of the Netflix animated series “The Hollow”, 40 episodes of “DNAce” for Corus Entertainment, as well as providing key background and vehicle designs for the cult classic animated feature “Rock and Rule”.
In graphic novels Paul is noted for his bestselling 2014 Graphic Edition version of the Forgotten Man by Amity Shlaes, and more recently he designed and illustrated a new version of George Orwell’s classic novel “Nineteen Eighty-Four”.
In comic books he co-created the classic 1980s comic book character “Mister X” and has created artwork for many mainstream comics companies, including Superman covers for DC Comics and Iron Man covers for Marvel Comics.
He has received numerous awards including a joint Emmy Award for his work on the Batman Beyond TV series, as well as being recognized by the Society of Illustrators(NYC) and the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles.
