Eric Seaburg is an illustrator and artist from Newtown, Connecticut. He has lived in Connecticut, New Zealand, Mississippi, Germany, and now California. He received an Associate Degree of Fine Art from Northwest Mississippi Community College in 2002, a BFA with emphasis in illustration from Paier College of Art in 2005 and an MFA in illustration from Academy of Art University in San Francisco in 2021.
He has been dedicated to creating art for over 25 years and can trace his earliest memories of this back to his youth when he first discovered the work of Norman Rockwell. While living in New Zealand Eric started taking art seriously as a future career when at the age of thirteen he was introduced to the work of New Zealand artist Gordon Walters by his art teacher. This revelation of design fused with nature mixed with a Norman Rockwell aesthetic has been the bedrock of Eric’s artistic vision. He has been involved with many types of art, including comics, murals, ceramics, oil/watercolor painting and digital painting.
At the age of 18, he self published a collection of comics from his school newspaper where he drew the monthly comic strip. He also won 3rd place in the Cartoon Category for this comic strip. He has a background in graphic design as well, working at “The Commercial Appeal” in Memphis, Tennessee creating advertisements for the newspaper. Eric mostly focuses on painting with oils or digitally now, and with his diverse background he is able to create well designed illustrations that have a strong sense of cohesion throughout.
Eric joined the military in 2009 and served 9 years on Active Duty. He was stationed in Germany, Afghanistan and served in California as an Army recruiter. He left Active Duty in 2017 and joined the Army Reserves where he currently still serves. While serving in the military he was able to put his artistic talent to use painting murals, signs, and logos and also designing a monthly newsletter for his unit.
Eric left the military to pursue his life long dream of getting a Masters Degree at Academy of Art University. While at the Academy his illustration talent was recognized in their annual Spring Show where he won 1st Place in 2022 for his advertising illustration. He was also a runner up in the 2021 Spring show and Creative Quarterly.
Today, Eric lives in Sacramento, California with his wife and dog. He enjoys spending time in the outdoors painting landscapes and also working with publishers to create book covers. He runs his own freelance illustration business called Eric Seaburg Art LLC and enjoys making clients dreams come to life. Eric Seaburg Art LLC is a certified SDVOSB. He thinks the more people he can make happy from his art the better.
