Ed Vargas was born in a small town in Costa Rica and ever since he was little he loved drawing and observing nature. He majored in graphic design from a local university and with time he realized graphic design wasn’t really his calling.

Eventually he discovered Entertainment Art and decided to travel to Los Angeles where he studied Visual Development and storytelling, which led to him shifting his occupation. Since then, he has developed a successful career working for games, animated movies and shows as an illustrator, background painter and visual development artist. His work can be found in productions such as Metalocalypse: Army of the Doomstar and the Legends of Vox Machina.
