SILA MEMBERSHIP SHOW
Biola University, a private, evangelical Christian, liberal arts university located in La Mirada, has invited the members of the Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles to exhibit their artwork for Fall 2013.
Join your fellow members* and show your stuff.
While the university’s 2013-14 overall theme is “Story and Spirit” the artwork can be pretty much anything, new work or old work, color, black & white, traditional or digital however, since, in addition to college students, there will be families with children coming through the exhibition space there should be nothing “juicy”, no nudity of any kind and no overtly sexual pieces.
The show will be held at the Biola University Library, Main Level from Monday, August 16 through Friday December 20, 2013. And there will be an Opening Reception Tuesday, September 3 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
There is no entry or hanging fee but you are responsible for getting your art to the University. Artwork should be framed and wired for hanging – no glass! You can enter as many pieces as you like. Your artwork will be insured while it is being exhibited but you can carry your own insurance if you wish and you should have insurance while your art is in transit. Biola University will pay for return postage at the end of the exhibition.
Submission process (deadline to let us know you’ll be showing is JULY 31, 2013!):
- Email a low-res jpeg of your artwork to info@si-la.org between June 10 and July 31for review by the University Exhibition Committee. Please include in the email: your name, the size of the framed work, the medium, the title, the value (for insurance purposes and purchase purposes) and any credit information. If your art is available for sale please let us know – neither SILA nor the University take commissions but we will let you know if someone is interested in purchasing.

The artwork should arrive between August 1 – 12, 2013. Artwork can also be hand delivered but arrangements must be made through Daniel Callis since the art office will be closed until August 12. The best way to communicate with Mr. Callis is via email: daniel.callis@biola.edu. No artwork will be accepted after August 12.
