Kurt Miller

I’m proud of the relationships I’ve developed over the years working with talented directors and marketing professionals who know the path to success. Computers have given me instant access to an industry of resources, which empower me to create beyond my own imagination and at the same time never let go of my own traditional skills.

I am currently a sophomore in illustration at the Rhode Island School of Design! A lot of my work consists of storytelling through illustrations and animations. I am most inspired by our everyday lifestyle and activities focusing on color and lighting to help tell a compelling story

As a kid I was obsessed with super heroes, Nintendo games, and Saturday morning cartoons. Now, as a grown-up, I’ve been lucky enough to work on projects that contain elements of all three of these obsessions. The results are a blend of traditional and digital media and tend to be whimsical, slightly out of the ordinary, and a little bit off-the-wall.

I have been inspired throughout my life by the beauty of nature, our planet’s place in the universe, and the great explorers of land, sea, air and space. I have an optimistic vision of humanity’s expansion beyond Earth into the solar system. I attempt to convey emotion, wonder, and excitement of these subjects through my art. Not being one to watch from the sidelines, though, I pursued advanced education in engineering and sciences, and fulfilled my dream of becoming a professional pilot, in parallel with the pursuit of expressive art. From my first person experiences of flying around our planet, in hostile environments ranging from military combat to flying hurricane research missions, as well as being involved with human spaceflight operations, I capture the essence of flight in my art. I’m also captivated by the imaginations of other artists…those who speculate and write about the future of humanity, and those who produce this visual imagery through film.
