Jorge Mascarenhas

Jorge Mascarenhas was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He’s been drawing since he can remember, as he doodled away through his notebooks and desks during his early education. His illustrations have been commissioned, nationally and internationally, by clients such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, Penguin, Family Circle, Macmillan, TOR, Wednesday Books, Barnes and Noble, Sterling Publishing, Runner’s World, Random House, Abrams Books, Popcorn Books, New Republic, D Magazine, 5280 Magazine, Desigual, Stanford University, Chief Investment Officer, Editorial Lumen, Six Red Marbles, Flaunt Magazine and Estado de São Paulo.
His work has been awarded and honored by every major illustration competition including Communication Arts, Society of Illustrators, American Illustration, Spectrum Fantastic Art, 3×3 Magazine, Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles and Lürzer’s Archive 200 Best Series; as well as featured in notable illustration publications such as Taschen’s Illustration Now and HOW Design. He’s a recipient of several Communication Arts Awards of Excellence, Silver and Bronze Medals from the Society Of Illustrators of Los Angeles and Creative Quarterly.
After serving as a judge for Illustration West 62, he volunteered to be Chair of this year’s competition, Illustration West 63.
In addition to his illustration career, Jorge teaches illustration at the Academy of Art University and digital art at JSerra Catholic High School. He’s a member of the Society of Illustrators Los Angeles and live in beautiful Orange County CA with his wife and two boys.
