Dear Artist Friends & Collaborators,

I’m working on developing an amazing nonprofit project, an online literary journal called Literature for Life. [The beta site,  http://literatureforlife.net/beta/,   is currently showing illustrations by J. Michael Walker. We willreflect more of the amazing diversity of LA’s artistic talent in our second issue–which will be heavily promoted to the public and shared with schools across LA.]
More than a lit journal, it will be an open source resource for teachers. Authors from across LA have submitted stories and a group of talented curriculum writers are writing middle school and up lessons that will accompany the stories. Students will be able to connect with local, contemporary stories and the story writers–and it will be completely free.
We will be publishing 2 journals a year and hope to publish our 1st complete journal later next month.
13 stories will appear in next month’s journal and we are looking for artists who would like to submit illustrations to appear with the stories.
Perks for illustrators include that this is a prestigious group of contributing authors and the project will get great visibility. Although everyone is mostly volunteering their time and efforts on the project, you will be able to sell your original work and we are offering a small thank you fee of $30 per illustration. (Our writers donated their work.)
If you are interested in looking over the stories and doing one or more illustrations, please send me an email or give me a call–310-869-5749.
Thank you so, so much!!!
Yours,
Roz
