The original artwork from Bill Thomson’s latest children’s book, THE TYPEWRITER, is being exhibited at the Southington Community Cultural Arts Center at 93 North Main Street in Southington, Ct. The exhibition also includes select children’s book illustrations from Thomson’s other children’s books, over forty pieces in all. The exhibition opened on December 1 and included a book signing with most of his books available. Thomson also hosted a special children’s event on December 4 with a slide presentation about his work/process and an imagination drawing game.

THE TYPEWRITER is a wordless book that explores the power of words and imagination. The book received a starred review from The School Library Journal, and the San Francisco Book Review noted, “The stunning artwork will draw readers right into the story with the characters and facilitate a magical experience for all.” Southington Community Cultural Arts (SoCCA) strives, through the arts, to create a unique environment in which people of all ages, abilities and experiences can feel free to imagine, create, exhibit and welcome the arts into their lives. Their mission is to be an open door for all local cultural activities and art organizations for the purpose of sharing their artistic talent and enriching the quality of life in our community.

The exhibition will run through January 4, 2017. Please see the links below for information about the Southington Community Cultural Arts Center and details of Thomson’s exhibition. http://www.southingtonarts.org
